responded to my question.

Here is the original question.

Sum

The Image Analysis extension does not support ECW files.
The ecw format is a wavelet compressed format.
The analysis should be done on the original image file.
As an alternative it does support MrSID files which uses the same style of
compression as ECW.
The development team in ESRI Redland will address this issue as soon as
possible.
